The treacherous mountain pass known as Crow's Whisper was paved with the bones of brave travelers.

It was a bitter Autumn morning and the wind had snow in it that stung your flesh like needles. Although large the battle kitten, Kippers, didn't make a sound with his padded paws while walking on the frosted path. Creak!... echoed through the grey stone pillars as No Scars shifted her weight in the saddle; one hand on the the reins and the other hand always on the hilt of her bloodied war sword. There is a legend in this region of a ruthless guardian that patrols this pass.

Approaching a narrow crest, suddenly a loud cry rang out, a mix of wildcat and a barstool being scraped across a tile floor. The sound vibrated No Scars' bowels turning them to ice. It was the brutal 13 Scars on her raging steed Mr. Peepers! Bounding from a moss-covered crag the tabby fury hurled himself towards the travelers. Kippers fell backwards to meet their attacker with his fangs and claws. No Scars was thrown and then pinned under the bulk of her bi-colored charger. Looking towards the sky the last thing she saw was the point of a black spear and an even blacker shadow.

There will be more bones to pave the pass.

I drew the top one first, I liked the story (all the fun is in killing monsters, but once they're dead; then what do you do?) but I wasn't too happy with the pose, so I re-drew it.

Jeez, I hope you guys aren't sick of these yet. I'm working on a longer, more finished project I swear.

The wolf was inspired by some myth I read recently on the internet. I remember it was about a baby boy who was the sole survivor of a massacre, he was adopted by a she-wolf with a blue mane, whereupon she raised him to manhood. Of course one thing led to another (nudge-nudge *wink* *wink*) and he ended up siring a race of wolf-men with his lupine mother.

Are ancestors had issues.

Eh, a couple of barbarian babes and an owl-bear.

Here's some stuff from the archives:

I always like the idea of a big, scary robot with a cute kitty face speaking in a squeaky anime voice.

This robot was for an idea that a friend (Chad Greenway) and I had: what if the Mayans progressed into an advanced, technological civilization? They'd jump around the Andes in huge robots, of course! This particular robot was programmed with the personality of the creator's deceased four-year-old son, so it would get pouty and have temper tantrums.

This was a concept for a video game pitch that was also by Chad.

Here's another melancholy entry from my intergalactic vacations.

That's our ship in the background, the "Delany's Whim" (the buffet is to die for). This time I traveled to the Bok system with my friend Brian, a writer and neovox composer. You see, the grid like structure in the foreground, is actually a city constructed by intelligent sub-atomic particles. They have reached a height of culture and science that only immortal, space-faring, ancient beings can obtain. They've know of our existence since our planets conception; hitching rides on tachyon particles, they've wandered the cosmos as silent observers since the beginning of time... literally.

Brian sat and contemplated the advanced society for hours, listening to the wind whistle through the structure, in this desolate landscape. After awhile he came back to the cabin, I was watching episodes of Miami Vice (not on video, mind you, but actual transmissions. It's taken this long for the signal to reach here), and he proclaimed: "Ya know, for such an advanced civilization... they're fucking boring!"

I work in the animation industry as a location designer. I draw backgrounds all day; buildings. trees, bathrooms, cityscapes, lemonade stands...etc...etc. So it's fun to sneak a drawing or two of some characters on post-it notes. For me it's all about minotaurs and barbarian babes.

The long-suffering Mademoiselle Killdeer tries desperately to console Traume Von Magpie who's in the middle of a fit of ennui whilst in his tighty-whities. For everyone needs a lap to lay their head, have their hair stroked and be told with a gentle voice, "Everything is going to be alright."

If you don't know already, Traume Von Magpie is a character by the inspiring [info]darkwaterfrey. He's an amazing artist and a nice guy. This is part of a little art swap we finagled.

The cube represents the kingdom of Heaven.

Satan and a few of his minions after they were ousted from Heaven.

It's always been a dream of mine to illustrate Milton's Paradise Lost. I figure I'll get the time to do this when I'm old and senile. They'll find hundreds of scribbled scraps underneath the dried out husk of my body in a musty, stifling apartment above a Chinese food restaurant that constantly smells of fry grease. Some young hipster will come across my oeuvre, and I'll become known as The-Crazy-Old-Lady-Who-Was-Obsessed-With-Milton. There will be gallery shows, books and documentaries, tote bags, salt and pepper shakers, bobble heads, soda pops, pillow cases, ironic parodies...etc... etc. Young Hipster will make millions... and I'll be dead. The hope that this will happen gives me the strength to care on.

I've started early on my senility and did these drawing a while back. Many more to go.

The origin of the word clue: When Theseus, of Greek mythology, entered King Minos' labyrinth to slay the minotaur, Ariadne, the king's daughter gave him a clew- a ball of string. Theseus unwound the string as he hunted for the Minotaur, after slaying the beast he was able to follow the string back to the entrance. The modern spelling of clue meaning "guide to a solution" is derived from this tale.

I imagine that the minotaur was the one that slew stupid Theseus and then knit himself a scarf from his clew to stay warm in the dank labyrinth. He also drilled birdhouses into his horns, to encourage the birds to keep down his flies... they don't seem to be helping much.

The planet of Golgotha III is almost lifeless now, but millions of years ago it was covered with a vast ocean. Enormous soft-bodied creatures once ruled the sea, but mysteriously the entire planet started to dry out. The only part of these beings that fossilized were their sinuous hearts, the black stone organs contrast dramatically with the pale chalk desert.

With building supplies being very limited, a Roman Catholic monastery has moved into a heart chamber, calling themselves, "Our Lady of the Left Ventricle". You can see a few believers filing in for morning prayer.

A few notes:

1. Orson isn't purple or dead. He just sleeps that way.
2. I'm 36 years old. Not 16.
3. Notice the black heart of despair.
